What is Path A?

Standard Indonesian Halal Certification

Path A is the standard certification route used when the country where your products are manufactured does not have a Halal certification body recognized by BPJPH (i.e., no Mutual Recognition Agreement / MRA exists).

Under this pathway, an accredited Indonesian LPH (Lembaga Pemeriksa Halal) — such as LPPOM MUI — dispatches its auditors directly to your manufacturing facility for an on-site inspection. The entire Indonesian certification process is managed from Indonesia, coordinated by our team.

The final result is an official BPJPH Halal Indonesia certificate, valid for 4 years, bearing your certificate number that must appear on all product packaging.

Free Assessment (Day 1–2)

We review your product, manufacturing country, and ingredient list. We confirm that Path A applies to you, provide a realistic timeline, and send a written cost estimate — at no charge, with no obligation.

Documentation Preparation (Week 1–4)

We guide you through compiling all required documents: Bill of Materials (BOM), ingredient specifications, supplier Halal declarations, production flowcharts, and MSDS sheets. We provide templates and checklists.

SIHALAL Application Submission (Week 4–6)

We submit your application via the BPJPH SIHALAL online system. We handle all portal communications and respond to any BPJPH requests for additional documentation on your behalf.

LPH On-Site Audit (Month 2–4)

An accredited LPH (e.g. LPPOM MUI) schedules and conducts an on-site inspection of your manufacturing facility. We coordinate the audit schedule, prepare your team, and accompany the process. Audit duration: typically 1–3 days.

MUI Fatwa Review (Month 4–5)

The audit findings are submitted to the MUI Komisi Fatwa (Islamic Council of Indonesia). Religious scholars review the product ingredients and production process and issue the official Halal fatwa.

BPJPH Certificate Issued (Month 5–6)

BPJPH issues your official Halal Indonesia certificate — valid for 4 years. You may now place the official purple Halal Indonesia logo and certificate number on your packaging. We provide a full label compliance review.

Ongoing Compliance Support

We monitor your certification status, alert you to any regulatory changes, and send renewal reminders 6 months before your 4-year expiry. Any ingredient or supplier changes are managed through us.

FAQ — Path A

Common questions about the standard pathway

Do auditors really travel to my country? Who pays for that? +

Yes — LPH auditors physically travel to your manufacturing facility. This is a BPJPH requirement: the audit must be conducted at the actual production site. Auditor travel costs (flights, accommodation, per diem) are part of the LPH audit fee and are included in your cost estimate. We minimize costs by coordinating efficiently and, where possible, bundling multi-site or multi-product audits.

Can I apply for multiple products at once? +

Yes, and it is often more cost-efficient to certify multiple SKUs in a single audit. If your products are made at the same facility with the same production lines, they can often be covered under a single LPH audit visit — significantly reducing the per-product cost. We will advise on the optimal grouping during your free assessment.

What if my suppliers use ingredients that aren't Halal certified? +

This is one of the most common challenges. During documentation review, we identify any ingredients that lack Halal certification from their source. We work with you to either: (a) obtain Halal declarations from your existing suppliers, (b) identify substitute suppliers who already have Halal-certified ingredients, or (c) request the LPH to review the ingredient status. We have dealt with this scenario many times and know how to resolve it efficiently.

Is the 3–6 month timeline guaranteed? +

The timeline depends primarily on (a) how quickly you can provide complete documentation, (b) LPH audit scheduling availability, and (c) MUI fatwa committee schedules.
