The MRA Fast Track

Path B is available when the country where your products are manufactured has a Halal certification body that holds a valid Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with BPJPH Indonesia.

Instead of going through a new full Indonesian certification process, you obtain your Halal certificate from the already-recognized body in your manufacturing country — and we register that foreign certificate directly with BPJPH in Indonesia.

This route eliminates the need for Indonesian LPH auditors to travel to your facility, which dramatically reduces both cost and timeline. The registration phase at BPJPH takes only 20–43 working days.

⚠️ Critical rule: The Halal certificate must be issued by a recognized body in your country of manufacture — not from any other country, even if that country also has an MRA. This is an explicit and strictly enforced BPJPH requirement. We verify this during your free assessment.

Path B step-by-step

1

MRA Eligibility Check (Day 1)

We verify whether your country's Halal certification body has a current, valid MRA with BPJPH. We also confirm that the specific body that would certify your products is on the recognized list. This is done during your free assessment.

2

Local Halal Certification (Varies by country)

You obtain a Halal certificate from the recognized Halal body in your manufacturing country. Timeline varies by country and certifying body — typically 1–6 weeks. We guide you through the local requirements and help with documentation preparation.

3

SIHALAL Registration (20–43 working days)

Once you have your foreign Halal certificate, we submit the registration application via the BPJPH SIHALAL system. We translate and prepare all supporting documents, manage all BPJPH portal communications, and follow up proactively to keep the process moving.

4

BPJPH Certificate Issued

BPJPH issues your Indonesian Halal certificate — valid for 4 years (or the remaining validity of your foreign certificate, whichever is shorter). The certificate includes your unique ID number for placement on product packaging.

5

Label Compliance & Ongoing Support

We review your packaging for compliance with the BPJPH Halal Indonesia label requirements (purple logo, certificate number placement per Decree 145/2022). We also manage renewal coordination before your 4-year expiry.

Common questions about the MRA route

No. This is one of the most common mistakes. BPJPH requires that the Halal certificate be issued by a recognized body in your country of manufacture — not from any other country, even if that country also has an MRA. If you manufacture in Germany, you need a certificate from a BPJPH-recognized German Halal body. If Germany does not have one, then Path B is not available to you and you must use Path A. We verify this clearly during your free assessment.
No — the 20–43 working day figure refers to the BPJPH registration phase only (after you already have your foreign Halal certificate). The time needed to obtain your local Halal certification depends on your country's Halal body and is separate. In many countries, local certification can take 2–8 weeks additionally. We provide a combined timeline estimate during your assessment.
Your Indonesian BPJPH certificate's validity is tied to your foreign certificate. If your foreign Halal certificate expires, you must renew it and update the BPJPH registration accordingly. We track both expiry dates for you and alert you well in advance — typically 6 months before expiry — so you have enough time to complete renewal without gaps in your certification.
